I'm not sure who was with me, but I was driving. We got to where we were going and I parked and put two hours' worth of quarters in the meter. Or so I thought.
An hour and three quarters went by and we weren't finished with whatever we were doing so I went back to feed the meter. I found a ticket on my windshield and "time expired" on the meter. At first I was confused. I knew I had put in enough money. Then I realized what had happened.
It turned out that the parking space was not on the street, but inside a coffee shop, which had booths, tables, and metered parking spots all intermixed.
