I was there, and I remember it as though I were looking at it through a bowl of water.

It starts in the middle, which is strange. Something has already happened, but as the dream begins I am in a cushioned blonde wicker chair, and Yoffie ( my ex's pretty black labrador) is in my lap, she lifts her paw and puts it on my chest, and I am laughing at her because she is beautiful. Bernie, the other black lab, stirs where she is curled at my feet.

And it is here that I realize I am in a house with my ex and his parents. It is not their house, and it is not mine, but it looks a bit like both of them. On the television the movie Cinderella is playing. I am at ease. I am not so much in love with him any more, but I lean a little on his arm, and he smiles at me, friendly, sweet. His parents and his grandparents walk through the room a few times, and they smile at me, and Bernie puts her chin on my knee, she smells clean and her eyes are the soft color of midnight.

And later I leave. I leave strangely, pushing the television back like a door and climbing out into the street, the Cinderella movie still playing on the screen. I smile and they all wave goodbye, Yoffie and Bernie standing together, so pretty, in the hallway.
